Biography

Namasté is a band comprising four handsome young fellas from London who Rock pretty fucking hard!

Sam Marlow (vox), Mike Alvarez (guitar), Chris Francombe (drums) and Dan Gray (bass) had been playing together for a year and had already made a name for themselves on the London scene, and had toured in various places in Europe when came to play a few shows in Vienna.

What Namaste saw there, Namaste liked: the girls were gorgeous, the crowds were rocking and diggin’ the ‘Sté, and the beer was cheap and strong! Namaste fell in love. So, after recording a few demo tracks at Vienna’s ‘What’s That Noize’ studio, the band agreed to come back and record an album with the lovely gents at crater8records.

The resulting album is entitled: ‘Outside Is Endless’. From it’s explosive start, right through the more fragile moments and all the subtleties in-between; ‘Outside Is Endless’ takes the audience on a journey and offers a wide range of styles and emotions, all fused together with the distinctive Namaste essence which is present throughout. The intelligently crafted music; the different parts work in subtle and immense brilliance together, mix with the melodic and passionate vocal lines, which ‘partly remind of Robert Plant and Jim Morrison’ (ecorder.at), and combine to bring something new to the listener whether they are hearing it for the first or one hundredth time.

“Muse, Incubus, Tool, but also older stuff such as Led Zeppelin say hello, but with the headstrong mixture of styles a new musical feeling arises.” (Slam) Namaste draw influence from many diverse places, but the end product is always 100% Namaste.

“Without a doubt, ‘Outside Is Endless’ is one of the most stunning debut albums of the year,” (Szene1).

Yet Namasté’s strength is in their explosive live show. “They have their audience under control from the first sound on”. The “charismatic front man Sam (Marlow)” (Planet) controls the stage, building up the energy of the crowd and cooling them off with an experience beyond his years. All the while Mike, Chris and Dan delivering their own brand of huge riffs, weird sounds and interesting melodic moments – all entwined with their tight improv jams – never fail to captivate the audience.

Now based back in the London, and with tracks from ‘Outside Is Endless’ getting attention and airplay, and with a video for the track ‘Brainy Box’ to promote; Namaste are organizing gigs all over the UK and have tours planned in Austria and Germany for the end of 2008. As always, Namasté are working hard writing great new material.
